National Star Wars Geek Day.. CREATURE CANTEEN CURIOUSITIES..

"Above painting available at and from goflyingturtle.blogspot.com"

Hey, I'll admit, I'm just as bad as everyone else.. although most people I know do it but won't admit it, I must daydream about the star wars universe, some creature in it, or some aspect about it that makes me wish I lived in a realm like that at least two times a day. As I spent the entire morning today in a comfortable living room under a nice autumn day with clear weather outside that was superficially perfect with not a care in the world, I couldn't help notice how restless I've felt: today I'm the kind of person I would slap for complaining about nothing, but something deep inside of me doesn't feel at peace and I can't put my finger on it. I reverted to wishing I lived somewhere in another part of the universe where the nonsensical just seems to make sense.. How much rather, I would prefer to go to a place like the Mos Eisley Cantinaa in Tantooine tonight than stupid "Fat Tony's" down the street on webster square. I figure I would likely have a more intriguing conversation with a space alien at some intergalactic bar than a typical masshole around here that just wants to talk about the Red Sox and their new car GPS system or how they're buying a flat screen. I know, I sound jaded: I'm just as bad as everyone else.. If I have issues today, I think it's that I am day dreaming about Mos Eisley Cantina and could see myself engaging in a flirtatious discussion with some Alien Broad rather than some scampy attention seeking Websterite with a nice tan nice hair and a shitty attitude..

You know that kind of afternoon where you just start to read about something online for no reason and learn all you can about it; stalking every site that exists on a subject until you've read up all available online resources? Well, so far today, the theme has been the Mos Eisley Cantina. Unless you are truly doing something so significant that the course of history rests on your decisions, sit back, relax, and consider the following weblinks which will gladly waste several gleeful hours of your life.. Don't forget to actually clip the link onto a navigation toolbar !

I: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mos_Eisley_Cantina

.. how can you go wrong, learning about the Mos Eisley cantina with the worlds most fully unstable resource for infomation that exists as we know it? Read the contents in this link at the very least if you at least are curious about what has been going in my head today and absolutely have no clue as to what I'm talking about

II: http://cantina.project.site.voila.fr/index.jhtml/

.. a great fansite that will saturate you with facts and pictures with everything you need to know about the nature of the Mos Eisley cantina, it's customers, it's methodologies, it's current actual location in (real world terms), and it's demise. Unfortunately, the site is partially in french..

III: http://www.starwars.com/databank/location/moseisleycantina/

.. The official 'star wars' site, describing the activities and the history of the Mos Eisley Cantina as perceived by George Lucas himself. Unfortunately though, like anything he tries to write about star wars, it's nowhere as exciting as some of the other sites that actual fans have set up in homage to this wonderful, wacky, cracked- out place..

IV: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/7024

.. This is great; a hardcore site depicting the Cantina in the parrallel universe of LEGO.. + For true hardcore nerd fans out there, some food for thought: Final resting place of the death of Jar Jar Binks?

V: http://www.hanshootsfirst.org/

...online petitions to have George Lucas change the historical events of Han Solo 'defending himself' against a belligerent Greedo performing attempted murder at the cantina in the new revised version of Star Wars.. complete with full forums and debates of how "Han Shot First"

VI: http://www.creaturecantina.com/

.. Yet another detailed and idealistic attempt to capture and describe the essence of the Cantina, its functional role, and its spirit in the natural order of things..

Then I remembered this cathy song which now I've been singing in my head all day. Obviously I didn't make the video, but whoever did it helped me smile a bit more today..

And finally..

.. If you've read this much, you must really be chilling today. Seeing how you probably would be so relaxed you may be in the mood to tolerate anything, let me present to you the most awkward star wars scene literally done by George Lucas mind you, that takes place at the Mos Eisley Cantina - and despite its reputation for harboring a wretched hive of scum and villiany, depicts a scene so dark and awkward, it will leave you with a feeling of regret wishing you had never seen this. This is an actual scene that happened to take place at the Mos Eisley Cantina from an ACTUAL movie that was ACTUAL star wars cannon called the "Star Wars Holiday Special"... This is the closest thing that best captures the feeling of experiencing and remembering a bad dream that is not a nightmare..

What next?
